Insurance Adjuster Help's Mission

Insurance Adjuster Help was created to guide individuals who are interested in entering the insurance adjusting industry.  As a fellow insurance adjuster I know how difficult and confusing everything can seem when getting started.  I have been very blessed with success in this field and not a day goes by that I forget to thank God for leading me to where I am today.  I felt it was important to "pay it forward" and help anyone else who wants to change professions while earning a substantial amount of life changing income.

About Me

My name is Devin Stinson and I started my journey as an independent adjuster back in 2011.  Believe it or not I used to be a karate instructor before I got involved with adjusting.  I didn't have the foggiest clue of what an insurance claims adjuster did (I didn't even know they existed) and I certainly did not have any working knowledge of general construction practices.  The only thing I was good at was pressure points and instructing 8 year old kids about stranger danger.  So if I can succeed, you can too!

I ended up graduating from ITT Technical Institute in June of 2010 with my bachelors degree in computer drafting and design.  Like many others battling this new economy, I was faced with a very difficult situation after graduating.  What do I do now?  Frustrated, I spent countless hours applying with various companies in hopes of putting my newly acquired degree to use.  I was eventually presented the opportunity to work as an insurance claims adjuster by one of my karate student's parents.  I became certified to adjust insurance claims and then set out to start my new career!

Most independent adjusters only get to work a few storms per year if they are lucky.  Which amounts to roughly 3 months of work.  I have been blessed enough to have worked consistently as an independent adjuster throughout the entire year.  I was often asked "How have you been deployed for so long consistently?"

I attribute all of my success to God for sending me the adjuster who mentored me.  From him, I learned early that "Going above and beyond the call of duty to achieve success will grant you job security."  In other words, management will like you more if you cause them less trouble (thus resulting in longer deployments).  I started off as a 2 story and steep helper in my home state of Indiana.  I had the opportunity to learn first hand from a few very experienced insurance adjusters.  I ended up being a 2 story helper for a little over 1 year, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  Because I was a 2 story helper for so long, I absorbed a lot of valuable knowledge regarding customer service, claims handling, general construction practices and claim estimatics.

By the time I was adjusting claims on my own, I had already encountered almost every common scenario an adjuster could experience.  I was able to hit the ground running!  The key to success with this profession is self motivation, producing quality work, eagerness to learn and to humbly accept constructive criticism.

I am now gainfully employed as a staff adjuster and I hope that this site can help you get started on your journey to becoming an accomplished insurance adjuster!  I am always searching for ways to better the content on this site.  If you have any specific questions, please feel free to become involved and post comments on the pages!  I will respond in as timely a manner as possible to assist you!  Also feel free to check the facebook and twitter page!

Sincerely,

Devin Stinson
